Choosing your keywords

Choosing the right keywords to build backlinks is crucial to ranking in Google and getting traffic. The Google algorithm is now very developed and can detect websites that appear to be artificially boosted with backlinks created by the website owner.

Don’t over use exact match keywords

If you over use the exact match keyword as the anchor text Google will penalize your site.

When you think about it – who provides a natural link to a third party website with a money keyword as the anchor text? I know I don’t and I know a lot about SEO.

Most backlinks have a non-exact match keyword for anchor text or simply use the URL to link to the site. Only use the exact match keyword or money keyword for a small proportion of your backlinks eg less than 10% of the backlinks.

When building backlinks to your sites you must use the URL for at least 50% of the links. Try to mix it up and use slightly different forms of the URL.

Examples of URL anchor text

http://yourdomain.com

http://yourdomain.com/

http://yourdomain.com/index.html

http://www.yourdomain.com

http://www.yourdomain.com/

http://www.yourdomain.com/index.html

www. yourdomain.com

www. yourdomain.com/

www. yourdomain.com/index.html

yourdomain.com

yourdomain.com/index.html

Branded Names

If you are using a branded name for your domain name you can use the branded name as the anchor text.

yourdomain.com

yourdomain

Partial Keywords

You can also use partial keywords in you anchor text links.

Get links from different IP addresses with different C Blocks

What is a C Block IP (Internet Protocol)

An IP is the address given to a website. The IP address has four sets of numbers and the third set is called the “C Block” or “C Class” of that IP address. For example if an IP is 208.32.162.52 it is the “162” that is the C Block.

The reason it is important that the C Blocks are different is because IP Addresses are sold to hosting companies in sets of 256. Each IP address will have the same A, B and C block and only the D block will be different (1-256).

So a hosting company will have sets of IPs per server, if you get two links from sites that have

different IPs yet have the same C Block, then Google knows that both those sites are hosted on the same server and the likelihood of them being from the same owner is high giving Google opportunity to penalize your site.

Choosing where to link from

The key is link diversity. Get a lot of different links from many different sites.

Contextual Links

This is a link that would be placed inside a text block. Google loves these types of links as they are considered “editorial” links and that is really what Google has indicated that they are after. Testing has proven this to be true.

This is why blog networks are so powerful. They consist of mostly posts with contextual links.

However, do not over-optimization your linking with contextual backlinks as you will score a Google penalty. Be natural and get links from the following sources as well.

Image Links

There is a growing trend for more and more sites to be ranking with almost nothing but links coming from pictures. This is good as Google can detect an image and there is no anchor text to worry about.

So my advice is to add an image themed to your content for backlinking.

Embedded Links

If you are into ranking YouTube videos this technique can be powerful. Try embeding your videos in your posts and get credit for it.

Site Mentions

A site mention is a URL without a link eg yoursite.com but without actually hyperlinking.

This is hard to test but I believe it is a safe form of getting a higher ranking in Google.

Nofollow Links

Use some nofollow links in your link building strategy as Google tends to trust these as they have no PR value.

Indexing & Ranking in Google

Many people ask me – Why get involved in affiliate marketing?

Affiliate marketing is one of the most successful business models ever created.

Quite simply, affiliate marketing is defined as when an affiliate (you) promotes a product or service that results in the vendor (the product owner) generating a sale. The vendor pays a sales commission to the affiliate.

The most common type of affiliate program is when the affiliate sends sales leads to the vendor’s website that result in a sale. The vendor pays a commission to the affiliate based on a percentage of the sale amount. The actual mechanics of the process are handled by affiliate networks, such as ClickBank or Commission Junction, who track the sales leads from the affiliate. The affiliate network is the third party that provides the sales order processing system to record the sale, collect the money, pay the vendor and pay the affiliate commission. The affiliate never has to worry about being paid commissions as it is handled by an independent third party – the affiliate network.

And there are already thousands of great products and services in existence to sell. You don’t need your own product. Most companies operating internet businesses have affiliate programs – they need affiliates to promote their products!

When you think about it, most businesses simply sell products or services created by other businesses. In fact, some of the most successful businesses in the world sell someone else’s product.

Affiliate Cash Lifestyle teaches you to build websites to promote products and services, worldwide on the internet, to earn affiliate commissions. This is the most successful business model in the world today.

Thousands of people make money every day and have quit their boring jobs to become full-time affiliate marketers.

I will show you how to make affiliate marketing work for you.

Why Should You Listen to Me?…

I’m not going to tell you some fabricated story about being poor and discovering a secret system that made me rich…

…then show you pictures of a luxury home, sports cars and a boat .

Don’t fall for those stupid tricks that are designed to “play on your emotions”. The truth is I had a good job and money before I started internet marketing. In fact I made most of my money in property investments… before the market went bad.

So why did I choose internet marketing?

I hated going to work!

My main reason for getting into internet marketing was to get out of going to work.

Why? I was going crazy working longer hours trying to make more money.

I’m an Accountant and I used to spend all day telling my clients how rich they are… and how to get richer. Can you imagine how frustrating that was… when everyone you know is wealthier than you.

And people who accumulate wealth don’t do it by simply putting more hours into their jobs…

Most of them didn’t even have jobs!

Most of my clients were making passive income.

There are all kinds of ways to make passive income… while you sleep.

Some methods are well known – such as interest on money deposits, property rentals or stock dividends. However, these methods require large amounts of capital to make relatively small returns and may come with a significant element of risk… you could lose money!

Investing is all about timing and time in the market. Sure if you buy property and wait long enough you will make money. But who wants to wait? You need money when you are young and healthy…it’s not much good to you when you are old and frail.

How can we make money without capital investment? And without the financial risks!

Do you know how my most successful clients were making their money?

Marketing products and services on the internet.

That’s right!

There’s no great secret here. My clients had built powerful websites to sell a whole range of products and services on the internet. Mainly their own products and services… but the important point is… they were making a killing!

And that’s when I clicked… why don’t I sell those products too?

The internet is a revolution!

It’s similar to when the invention of the printing press changed the world.

Before printing machines everything was hand written. People had to copy books and documents by hand which took hours. It was so difficult and expensive to publish information.

With the arrival of printing machines people could easily publish documents and books to a large number of people.

The internet is the next step in the process. Publishing is now electronic. Now everyone can easily create a website, e-book or other information and publish it on the net… to the whole world… at the click of a mouse… and the cost is peanuts!

The other reason…

…I worked in an office sitting all day with no exercise and I was losing my health.

I needed to change my life…

I knew I didn’t want a job anymore.

Why? Because in a job you are so limited!

You trade your time to make money… and you only make money when you are working… it’s like being a financial slave!

And we are all slaves to our jobs…

…just trying to own a home, car and pay the household bills.

And most people’s jobs aren’t that secure anyway!

You simply cannot spend your whole life working to pay the bills…

It’s just wrong and I’m not doing it!

I don’t know about you…

But I want to spend my time on holiday…travelling the world…seeing new places…meeting new people… looking after my family and pursuing my goals and dreams.

But our job is our biggest “asset”…how do we live without the income?

It was time to break free…

So I started with internet marketing…

But I didn’t know how to do it.

So I learned the hard way – by trial and error.

At first I built websites that didn’t rank and didn’t get any traffic.

Then I added content… a lot of content… but that only brought small traffic volume.

So I learned about SEO… that brought some more traffic.

Then I built backlinks to my sites… a lot of backlinks… now I had a lot of websites getting good traffic volumes but I didn’t make many sales.

Then I learned about copy writing to convert the visitors into customers… some more sales.

It wasn’t until I studied what my clients were doing in more detail that I started making serious money.

I wish I had a course like this in the beginning… I would have paid 10x the asking price… to save me from the steep learning curve and all the mistakes I made along the way.

Guess what?

The old “formula” to rank a website in Google doesn’t work anymore!

If you wanted your website to rank in Google and score free traffic you could follow to old formula and
it would work most of the time and didn’t matter what your niche was.

Depending on the competition, the key strategy was something like this…

1. Get as many links as you can to your site. And it didn’t really matter if they came from the same types of sites or not.

2. Get links with your keyword in them

The formula was something like this:

- 50% of your backlinks should be your main keyword

- 10% of backlinks are your main keyword + other words (eg: read about XXX,
check out XXXX, etc)

- 10% of your backlinks generic text (eg: click here, visit site)

- 20% of your backlinks as the text (eg: your link URL used as the text)

However, when Google updated it algorithms again this “formula” became obsolete. Ranking became very difficult again.

Some internet marketers noticed there’s one very good reason that some of their sites didn’t get hit at all, or recovered extremely fast.

No it has nothing to do with where the links come from.

The answer lies in the link density, link diversity and anchor text.

Hitting your sites with a number of links from the same types of sites, plus only getting links with keyword rich anchor text is finished – it just doesn’t work.

Google are on to you.

Here’s what you need to do:

1. You still need to get links so keep building them.

Many marketers just stopped building links altogether fearing that if they continued, their sites would lose ranking. They were wrong. If you suddenly stopped building links as usual, that it would be a sure-fire sign to Google that you were up to something and then they would hit you even harder.

Remember, if something suddenly changes, you’re likely gaming the system. If your
links are in fact natural, then nothing would change.

2. Anchor text links have CHANGED…

The formula for the amount of keyword anchor text:

up to 15% – your main keyword that you’re wanting to rank for

20% – related LSI keywords (these are keywords related to your main keyword. Think of these as the “related” searches that Google shows you as you’re typing in their search field).

35-50% – your URL as the anchor text

25% – generic keywords

Google is now looking for a more diverse linking profile – a more natural one.

Why doesn’t my website get traffic?

This is a very common question I am asked by many new internet marketers.

Internet marketers have gone to the bother to build a nice website with useful information about a topic or niche market. They have included relevant, original content and good quality images. They have referenced other websites. They have even back linked their site.

But there is only a trickle of traffic from the search engines.

Why?

The answer is simple!

The search engines already have millions of web pages to index and present to people performing a search. Unless your site is about a new topic or a topic where there is little online content the search engines don’t really need your site. For example, you have created a blog site about how to lose weight. Remember there are already thousands of existing websites on this topic and they cannot all be displayed on page one of a search engine’s results.
The search engines are programmed to give priority to an existing website that is getting good traffic volumes and has good user metrics. By metrics I am talking about how long visitors stay on the site, whether visitors comes back again, do visitors “like” the site in facebook, do they read more than one post, etc. The search engines can measure these metrics and use them to determine whether visitors like your website or not.
To get a new website about a common topic (such as weight loss) to rank would take considerable time and effort. There are just too many powerful websites to compete against. And even if your site was to rank and get traffic you may not make any sales.
Generally, I don’t recommend new internet marketers try to compete in already highly competitive markets because 99% of the time your efforts will amount to nothing. It is much safer to find an obscure niche market where the competition is low and you can get a foothold.
But new affiliate marketers don’t seem to understand this. Still they build websites and wonder why there is no traffic.

One thing most new internet marketers don’t know is that the other reason why they get no traffic is because only a small proportion of traffic to successful websites comes from search engines. As an example, I have one successful website that sells a product and it only receives about 2% of its traffic from Google. The majority of the traffic is from other sources. If you are going to build a website thinking that Google is going to give you the majority of your traffic then you are in for a big disappointment.
Professional internet marketers know that they have to generate their own traffic from many different sources and don’t rely on search engine traffic. So what sources do they use?
There are many…

- Advertisements
- Build feeder websites to bring more search engine traffic to your main site
- Write articles and publish on popular articles sites
- Write blog articles for other websites as a guest blogger
- Put your banners on other websites
- Get your links on other websites
- Capture email addresses and stay in contact with your visitors
- And much more.

Traffic sources for affiliate marketing

Many people have bought the Google Sniper product over the years making the author, George Brown, a wealthy man.

But does this product work?

I can only answer from my own experience with the product.

The short answer is no – Google Sniper does not work today.

Here’s why.

Yes, Google Sniper, worked way back when it was first released in 2007. Although this is when the search engines, mainly Google, started changing their algorithms making the Google Sniper method less useful over time.

Using the Google Sniper method from the start of the internet to around 2007 would have worked because there were a lot less websites on the internet and the search engines were not as smart as today.

The Google Sniper technique is based on building a small website around a buying keyword that can be related to a product. All you had to do is find a topic niche where there wasn’t many websites, build your site and monetise it. Providing you had selected a good keyword and offered a good product that sells you could make money. Your website would soon show up on the first page of Google (and other search engines) because there was little other relevant websites relating to your chosen keyword. You were almost guaranteed to get some free search engine traffic that you could convert into sales, depending on the quality of your website content and the quality of the product you are selling.

But as the world-wide internet traffic grew so did the number of competing websites. Everyone started to build websites trying to capture traffic and convert those visitors into customers. As a result the search engines could not easily determine which websites are the best quality in terms of giving the user useful information and the best browsing experience. Search engines needed to become smarter to differentiate the low value, rubbish sites from the high quality, high value informational sites that users want to find.

Today, building a small, low value website based on a keyword (even if you have the keyword as the domain name) will not rank in the search engines unless it satisfies all the qualitative characteristics that are required by the Google algorithm.

So what are these qualitative characteristics that are required by Google?
Nobody really knows the correct answer to that – unless you work at Google.

Click here for some known qualitative characteristics

How does Google rank websites

But what has happened is that the search engines are so sophisticated these days that it is a complete waste of time building a small website around a keyword trying to attract some traffic for the purpose of selling a product. The search engines will not rank these sites.
But what if I build backlinks to my site?

This use to work until about 2011 when the search engines became smarter.

There are so many factors to make a website rank well in Google that the average person does not have a “chance in hell” of making it happen for a buying keyword with a reasonable level of traffic.
Even George Brown, in his last video, told his followers that he doesn’t use Google Sniper himself any more as he has developed a software product that generates email sales leads from internet intelligence, such as, Graigs List, Twitter, Gumtree, etc.

My advice is to forget about Google Sniper and try something else. I personally wasted a lot of time with it and had very disappointing results. Some of my websites did make a few sales initially but eventually all the sites were not ranking after the changes at Google. And when I built backlinks to my sites it didn’t have much effect. Google are very good at determining when an internet marketer is trying to “game” the system to increase ranking.

While product creation is not recommended for beginner marketers it is something to think about for later. I have included this in the course because some of you may have specialist knowledge or in-depth experience with a subject matter. This could be due to your education, career, an interest or a hobby.
If you look through ClickBank or one of the many other affiliate networks there are many domestic products that have been created by individuals just like you. I have created a few products myself; you’re reading one of them!
If you are able to take your specialist knowledge and create a product or service you may be able to sell it. Writing an e-book with specialist information is the easiest type of product to create. Some people have the ability to create software or design software and have someone else develop it.
Once you have created your own product you can load it onto an affiliate network, like Clickbank. This is an easy way to sell your product. All you need to do is build a sales page website. I have included a HTML template you can use.
Next list your product on an affiliate network. You will have to offer at least 50% commission to entice affiliate marketers to promote your product but it’s worth it as most of your sales will be generated by affiliates.
Usually there are many affiliates that already have an existing (and ranking) website relevant to your product or niche on which they can promote your product or service. In fact, most affiliates love to sell new products as there is less competition and the market often responds well to new products.
Once you list your new product, affiliates will soon start promoting the product on their websites and it won’t be long before you make your first sale.
